Northwest Hiking Near the City
Hiking in the Northwest, there is so much to love about it. Today was another typical perfect day to get outside. The temperature was hovering around 50F, not hot nor to cold. Then there was a mysterious morning fog hovering around the mountains. Especially when I’m hiking in the forest I absolutely love the fog. It makes me feel like numerous creatures could be hiding around the next bend not aware I’m getting that close. This damp foggy feeling is very common in the part of the country and often it’s under appreciated. Most of all though I think it’s the level of green that calls to me. There is something calming about seeing the different shades of moss, ivy, and trees all mixing together even in the winter months. When most of the country is lacking color, the Northwest still keeps it’s character.
As you can tell by the pictures this wasn’t leg crushing do or die hiking. While I do appreciate those, sadly not everyday can capture that feeling. It is worth nothing this was an awesome 5 mile loop only 15 minutes from our condo in the city. If you live in an urban area you’ll know not all of them come with the luxury of having nature that close by. To walk out the door and leave your boot print on some wet muddy hiking path less than twenty minutes later is just awesome. This year my plan is to work smarter so I can play harder. If more people, including myself, reconnected with nature more I’m convinced we’d all be a lot calmer. Today not only put my mind at ease, but also my body. Hike more, work less, and make your own adventure.
